A regional healthcare organization engaged Two Point to create a live, compliant archive for their orthopedic EHR system, which was being sunset by the end of 2025 following an acquisition by a larger EHR vendor. The acquiring company had purchased both the orthopedic and podiatry EHR systems in 2021 and began migrating clients to its flagship platform shortly thereafter.
With eight years of patient data in the legacy system and a seven-year retention requirement, the organization needed a secure, accessible solution to ensure compliance and ongoing access to historical patient records once the legacy system was decommissioned. Two Point was selected for our proven record in healthcare data archiving and our ability to execute efficiently under tight deadlines.
The primary challenge was maintaining continuous access to patient information after the EHR vendor ended platform support.
The vendor’s divest plan included:
While patient demographics and insurance information remained discrete, all other clinical data was provided as indexed PDF records—limiting the ability to migrate discrete historical data directly into a new system such as Cerner.
The project required:
Two Point implemented its ACERT™ HIT Archive to deliver a static archive tailored to the organization’s environment. Drawing on prior experience with the same EHR data structure, our engineering team determined that the export format could be ingested directly, reducing the need for exploratory or custom mapping work.
Implementation Highlights:
The project was scoped for rapid turnaround from initial data receipt through archive validation and sign-off.
The organization’s archive is on track for completion before December 31, 2025, ensuring continuity and compliance as their legacy system sunsets.
Results:
Two Point is a trusted leader in healthcare data archiving and migration, helping hospitals, health systems, and specialty practices retain, protect, and access critical patient information as they transition between EHR platforms. Our ACERT™ HIT Archive delivers compliant, cost-effective solutions for organizations retiring legacy systems such as Exscribe, NextGen, eClinicalWorks, and more.
